Starting karate is easy, simply find a convenient class and turn up to watch or join in. To participate, turn up in suitable sportswear or light clothing.

Joining Wessex Karate Academy
- Download the Student information and Joining Form (or get one from your instructor) complete and return.
Licensing
Our club is proudly affiliated with Goju Ryu Karate International (GKI). All students are required to hold a valid GKI licence, renewed annually. to train and compete. Your licence provides:
- Full insurance coverage for training, gradings, and events
- GKI membership and association registration
- Eligibility for gradings and belt promotions
- Entry to competitions, seminars, and special events
To get your GKI Licence
Before you can purchase a licence, you need an approved DojoConnect account. If you already have one, you can skip to Purchase a Licence.
Register an account with GKI
- Visit the registration page
- Select Wessex Karate Academy as your dojo
- Follow the instructions
Your registration will then need to be approved by your instructor before you can log in and purchase a licence. You will receive an email notification when this has happened.
